MY PROMISE

If elected to Arvada City Council, I will work diligently to:

  1. Prioritize city services and programs to enhance quality of life for all residents

  2. Seek innovative ways to balance growth with our responsibility to protect our environment and community values

  3. Expand opportunities for high paying jobs, local businesses and attainable housing

Why I’m Running

I’m running to give back to the community I love. Arvada has been home to me and my family for more than 10 years. As we work to recover from the pandemic and as our city grows, I want us to do all we can to provide a thriving environment for working families, youth, retirees and small businesses. I will defend the small town feel we all treasure. This means working hard to balance new development, reduce traffic congestion, provide attainable housing, and protect our air and water from pollution and wildfires. I’m running for City Council to ensure all Arvadans have unrestricted opportunities to live, work, and play in our great city.

Arvada is like family to me. I would like the opportunity to work for you.

Ten years ago, my husband Scott and I moved to Arvada to start a family. We were attracted to the charm of Olde Town and the citywide accessibility to parks and trails.

Through the years we have come to love something we were not expecting: a great community. While we were fostering an infant, the members of our church, Arvada UMC, reached out to play grandparents, aunts, uncles, and brothers and sisters offering to babysit. When Scott had a stroke, our neighbors provided meals, rides and comfort.

Arvada is more than a city in Metro Denver. It is a place where residents come together to celebrate the joys of life and to support each other during life’s challenges.

I was a scientist and a teacher.

I will add a new perspective to the Arvada City Council as a trained scientist and former teacher. I studied ecology, have a masters in environmental management and conducted field research in Indiana, Colorado and Costa Rica. As a teacher, I taught my students the importance of tapping into different experiences and expertise to solve problems.

Today, through my work at a nonprofit recycling organization, I engage with stakeholders to build a viable circular economy in which valuable resources are used over and over to create local jobs and reduce our climate impact. Every day, I utilize my scientific analytical skills and implement the lessons I taught my students.

I know Arvada.

I know how to bring people together, to listen to all perspectives, collaborate, create a fair and transparent process and to do the hard work.

I have experience working with the city to develop solutions through collaboration while serving five years on the Arvada Sustainability Advisory Committee. I researched best practices from around the country and worked with the Committee to gather community feedback on a proposal for organized waste and recycling.

As the Director of Community Campaigns at Eco-Cycle, I worked with the governor and our state legislators to provide funding to municipalities for recycling and to attract recycling businesses and jobs to our state.

Through my community service with Arvada UMC, I know many of the groups and organizations that provide critical services for our residents.

I have the persistence and experience to work for our shared values.
