Why I’m Running

I'm running to give back to the community I love. Arvada has been my family's home for more than 10 years. As we work to recover from the pandemic, the economic crisis and as we grapple with growth, I want us to never lose sight of the kind of community we want for our future. A community where working families, youth, retirees, and small businesses can all thrive. Arvada is a special place, and I believe it is important that we defend the 'small town' feel we all treasure. I will work hard to balance new development, reduce traffic congestion, provide attainable housing, and protect our air and water from pollution and wildfires.

I’m running for City Council to ensure all Arvadans have opportunities to live, work, and play in our great city.

Arvada is like family to me. That's why I will work tirelessly for you.

Ten years ago, my husband and I moved to Arvada to raise a family. We were attracted to the charm of Olde Town and the citywide accessibility to parks and trails. But over the years, we have come to love something much more than the city's amenities: our neighbors. Our neighbors and our church have supported us through life's challenges and celebrated with us life's joys. You, Arvada, have been there for us. Now I want to represent you and stand up for your shared values at city council.

I have a background in science and education.

I have studied science and ecology and taught middle school, encouraging my students to tap into different experiences and expertise to solve problems collaboratively. I will do the same as your city council member, employing critical thinking and a willingness to work with anybody to address the challenges facing our city. In the process, I will always be transparent, openly communicate and keep you—my constituents—informed about the city's work. Most importantly, I will be dedicated to listening to you and representing the people's voice.

I know Arvada.

I know our city: While serving on the Arvada Sustainability Advisory Committee for the past five years, I researched best practices from around the country and gathered community feedback for a variety of issues relating to our city's infrastructure and environment.

I know municipal government: As the Director of Community Campaigns at Eco-Cycle, I have worked with the governor and our state legislators to provide funding to municipalities for recycling services and to attract businesses and jobs to our state.

I know service: Through my community volunteer efforts with Arvada United Methodist Church, I have worked with many of the groups and organizations in Arvada that provide critical services for our residents in need.

I know I have the persistence and experience to work and deliver for you, Arvada.

Help ensure Arvada’s resilience and charm for years to come.
